SS Bakes - First order FULL REVIEW

When it comes to buying "Cakes", You might think it is all about the looks and also how it tastes- But there is a lot more to it.

Here is my first "Cake Review" of a budding at-home baker that lives around my locality- SS Bakes


The entire idea behind having a cake during (most) of your celebrations is more than just "kuch meetha" or "Something sweet", it is about living an experience and creating memories- and that is exactly what SSBakes does.




Here are the things to look for- while buying cakes and how well SSBakes did at delivering these aspects.

1. Ingredients

The ingredients should not be compromised on, since the kind of ingredient determines what goes in the body is harmful or not. The baker Simran uses heavy locally sourced fresh cream (not store-bought whipped cream) pure chocolate (coverture chocolate, not compound chocolate) and fresh fruits while baking.

2. Freshness

Simran takes her orders at least 3 days in advance, to make sure that the ingredients are freshly brought and prepared just before delivery. Her delivery is timely and she also gives a digital confirmation mentioning the details. The Pineapple cake I ordered had fresh sweet pineapple the looked and felt clean, The cream too was very rich and dense.

3. Quality

Simran does not compromise on quality, and that is seen all over her gallery and Instagram page, I did experience it first hand this time. The Baker is a Nutritionist and very conscious about what goes into the body. She combines her learning with baking practice and manages to deliver quality on time at an affordable price. From the cream to the coverture chocolate are all free of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil and other avoidable additives that are present in commercially available raw products at a cheaper price. Even the pineapple in the cake was clean and fresh and the fresh cream of heavy quality. Overall it exceeded my expectations in this area!

4. Piping and Decoration

One of my favourite things (and also most satisfying) are the peaks of freshly piped cream. They tend to fall off or not stand the shape unless they are stored at a lower temperature. The piping and decoration were beautiful on the cake delivered to me, perfect peaks, dense and shiny, and also the placing of pineapple, the golden drips as a bonus was altogether a complete package. Even though I am fully satisfied with the piping and decoration, I feel the Baker has a lot of more decoration and presentation potential-which of course comes with experience and practice, and would appear soon in her works to come.

5. Taste

Fresh with amazing texture and the perfect balance of sweet and sour flavours. The most convincing part was having pieces of pineapple in every bite! The taste was better than I expected and it really did get over sooner than expected!

Hence overall, the experience was above what was expected and I will be placing another order soon!

Marvel's Eternals : First review, Pre-Screening

We are ending 2021 with a bang, ever since Marvel Studios started releasing their movies on the big screen. This October, I was able to experience Marvel's Venom 2: Let there be carnage & Shang-Chi: Legend of the ten rings. Jio's MAMI YRP [Mumbai Film Festival] made it possible for us to attend Marvel's Eternals first pre-screening on the 31st of October, 2021. The movie is set to release soon, on the 5th of November, 2021 and it has made a commotion already.
